Fall is such a beautiful time of year… the cool refreshing air after such intense heat of the summer, the hues of brilliant red, orange, gold and green all meshed into something of a myriad of an enormous paintbrush splashed and splattered against nature’s backdrop. It’s like the heavenliness displayed on earth. There truly is nothing like this short lived season of such intense, incredibly natural beauty that just seems to appear before our eyes. It’s not something you can create except to try and mimic through a painting which serves as a mere reflection of the creation of the Creator. The season of Fall or Autumn is a reminder to us of the seasons or rhythms of our own lives as we live out each year. The seasons of nature are synonymous and congruent with our own internal rhythms. After a summer season of long, full days of go, go, go… we naturally want to shrink back and “fall” in to a slower, quieter more restful season of slow, slow, slow. Nature’s shorter days and colder weather helps to create a natural environment to “rhythm” us into a slower space or place.
It is an incredibly fun time for people and families to take in so many special moments and activities. There’s something so naturally fun about the fall season; crisp, frost laden mornings, the most beautiful blue skies with the purest, white, lofty clouds , bon-fires, sweatshirts and long jeans (after a sweltering, hot, humid summer), outdoor roasts and orchid visits of brightly colored squashes, pumpkins and apples, not to mention the smell of dried burning leaves, hot cider and pumpkin pie. There is just something so very special about Fall which makes it my favorite season…however….it is just never ever long enough!
